Information about Data Protection on EVZ Websites

Dear visitors

Protecting your privacy is important to us. In this document we set out to inform you how we process your data that you knowingly or unknowingly entrust us with, when you make use of our Internet services.

1. Responsibility for data protection

Responsibility for this online service within the meaning of Swiss data protection legislation lies with:

EVZ Holding AG
Weststrasse 11
CH-6303 Zug

2. Your data protection rights

You may at any time exercise the following rights by applying in writing to the above address:

  • Request details of the data held by us and how it is processed,
  • Request correction of incorrect personal data,
  • Request erasure of personal data stored by us,
  • Request restriction of data processing, if we have a legal obligation not to delete your data for the moment,
  • Register an objection to our processing of your data and
  • Request transfer of that data, provided you have given consent to data processing or have entered into a contract with us.

If you have given us your consent then you may at any time withdraw that consent with regard to future processing.

You may at any time lodge an appeal with the competent supervisory authority.

3. Why data is processed

We only process your personal data for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice. None of your personal data is transferred to third parties for reasons other than the reasons stated. We only pass on your personal data to third parties when:

  • You have given your specific consent to this,
  • Such processing is necessary as part of our contract with you,
  • Such processing is necessary due to a legal obligation,
  • Such processing is necessary to protect your legitimate interests

and there is reason to suppose that you have an overriding interest in your data not being transferred on.

4. Collection of general information on browsing our website

When you visit our website, information of a general nature is collected using cookies. This information (in the form of server log files) includes the type of web browser, the operating system used, the domain name of your Internet service provider and similar data. This information is exclusively of a type that does not allow you to be traced personally.

This information is technically necessary to correctly deliver the website content you request and is an absolute necessity when using the Internet. Data is, above all, processed for the following purposes:

  • to ensure problemfree connections to the website,
  • to ensure smooth use of our website,
  • to control system security and stability and for
  • other administrative reasons.

Processing of your personal data is carried out as a result of our legitimate interest in collecting data for the above-mentioned purposes. Only the responsible departments and any sub-contractors will receive your data.

Anonymous data of this type may be processed by us for statistical purposes so as to optimise our Internet presence and related technology.

5. In-house data exchange and single sign-on (SSO)

In order to make it easier for our customers and employees to work with our online services, we have linked important systems such as website, mobile apps, ticketing, access control, catering cash register, cashless payment devices and CRM to a modern data hub so that customer and online user data are automatically synchronised with our internal IT network.

As a result of linking up data in this way, if customer details (e.g. postal address) are altered in any one of our systems (e.g. ticketing), these changes automatically trickle through to other relevant companion systems (e.g. website). This avoids having to have redundant data administration processes in different systems.

SSO is an identification methodology that enables single users to have access to several uses and services on just one login. SSO enables the user login to be linked up or delegated so that people can access web apps and services without having to log in separately each time.

6. Cookies

Just like many other websites, we use so-called ‘cookies’. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your hard disc by a web server. This gives us automatic access to certain data such as IP address, the browser used, operating system and your Internet connection.

Cookies cannot be used to launch programmes or transfer viruses onto a computer. With the use of cookies we can make your browsing experience smoother and show you the right web pages.

Under no circumstances will the data collected by cookies be passed on to third parties and, without your consent, linked up with your personal data.

You can find further information on cookies here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cookie

Cookies that are absolutely necessary

These are the cookies that enable you to browse our website and use its functions. Services such as shopping-cart and e-billing would not be possible without these cookies.

Performance and analysis cookies

These cookies collect information on how you use our website, for example which pages you most often visit. This data can be used to improve our websites and simplify browsing for you. These cookies are used so associated companies can see if you came from the website of another associated company and whether your visit resulted in the use or purchase of a product or service, including details of that product or service.

Function cookies

By using these cookies our website can remember what choices you made when browsing our sites. We can, for instance, store your geographical location in a cookie so as to be sure to display the version of the website designed for your location. We can also remember preferences such as text size, font, and other customisable aspects of the site. Cookies can also be used to track which products or videos you have viewed, so you will not be offered the same ones twice. The information collected by these cookies does not identify you and they may also track your browsing behaviour on websites not operated by us.

Use of third party cookies

Other third-party cookies may also be uploaded that also collect information about your online activity through cookies, web beacons, and other similar technologies, either when browsing our services or across the Internet.

These companies can also show ads and track user behaviour in other ways.

Cookie controls

You can, in principle, make us of our website without cookies. Web browsers are usually designed to accept cookies. In general, you can deactivate or erase cookies at any time through your browser settings. Please use the help function of your web browser in order establish how you can change these settings. Please be aware that some functions of our website may possibly not function if you have deactivated the use of cookies. Users may deactivate the storage of cookies by clicking here: www.youronlinechoices.eu

7. Registering on our website

When registering for the use of our personalised services, some personal information will be collected, such as name, address, contact and communication data such as telephone number and e-mail address. If you are registered with us, you can then make use of content and services that we only offer to registered users. Registered users can have their registration data altered or erased, if required, at any time. Naturally we can provide you with information at any time on the data related to you personally that we have on record. At your request we can alter or erase such data provided this does not infringe any legal obligation to keep the data on record.

8. Provision of paying services

When providing paying services we ask for additional data, such as payment details, to complete your order. We store this data in our systems until the legal retention periods have expired.

9. SSL encryption

We use state-of-the-art encryption techniques (such as SSL) over HTTPS to protect the security of your data during transmission.

10. Comments

When users leave comments on our site, they will also see the time when the comment is created and the user name previously chosen by the site visitor. This is for our security, as we may be prosecuted for any illegal content on our website, even if created by users.

11. Newsletters

On the basis of your expressly given consent, we will regularly send you our newsletter or comparable information by email to your specified email address.

In order to receive newsletters it is sufficient to indicate your email. When you sign up to receive our newsletter, the data you provide will be used exclusively for that purpose. Subscribers may also be notified by email about circumstances relevant to the service or registration (such as changes to the newsletter offer or technical conditions).

For registration to be effective we need a valid e-mail address. In order to verify that an application is actually being made by the owner of an e-mail address, we use the 'double-opt-in' procedure. During this process, we record the newsletter request, the dispatch of a confirmation email and receipt of the requested reply. Further data is not collected. This data will be used exclusively for newsletter distribution and will not be passed on to third parties.

Consent to storage of your personal data and their use for sending newsletters can be revoked at any time. Each newsletter contains a link to this function. In addition, you can un-subscribe at any time directly on this website or else inform us of your request via the contact option indicated at the end of this Privacy Notice.

12. Contact form

If you contact us with questions by email or by using the contact form then this indicates your freely given consent to enter into contact with us. This requires you to give a valid email address. This serves to categorise your question and subsequent response. Further data may be given as you wish. The information you provide will be stored for the purpose of processing the request and for possible follow-up questions.

13. Links

This website may contain hyperlinks to other websites that are not operated or monitored by us. These third party websites are not subject to this Privacy Policy and we are not responsible for their content nor the principles they use regarding the handling of personal data. We recommend you read the Privacy Policy of each site and see how they protect your personal data and whether they are trustworthy.

14. Use of Google Analytics

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (hereafter 'Google'). Google Analytics uses so-called 'cookies', i.e. text files that are stored on your computer and that enable an analysis to be made of how you use the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, due to the activation of IP anonymisation on these websites, your IP address will first be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or within other States adhering to the European Economic Area Agreement. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be sent to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports to the website operator on website activity and to provide other services to the website operator related to website activity and internet usage. The IP address transmitted by your browser to Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.

The purposes of such data processing are assessment of use of the website and the compilation of reports on website activity. Based on the use of the website and the Internet, other related services can be provided. Data processing is based on the legitimate interest of the website operator.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software to do this; however, please note that if you do, you may not be able to use all the features of this website to the fullest extent possible. Furthermore, you may prevent Google from collecting the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) as well as the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available under the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de

15. Use of Google webfonts

In order to render our content correctly and graphically appealing across different browsers, we use script libraries and font libraries on this website, such as Google webfonts (https://www.google.com/webfonts/).

Google webfonts are transferred to your browser cache thus obviating multiple loading. If the browser does not support Google webfonts or prohibits access, content will be displayed in a standard font.

Calling up script or font libraries automatically triggers a connection to the library operator. It is theoretically possible - but currently also unclear whether and if so for what purposes - operators of such libraries can collect data.

The Google library operator’s Privacy Policy can be found here: https://www.google.com/policies/privacy/

16. Use of Google Maps

This website uses the Google Maps app to display geographic information visually.  When using Google Maps, Google also collects, processes and uses data about the use of map features by visitors. For more information about Google's data processing, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy. There you can also change your personal privacy settings in their privacy centre.

For detailed instructions on how to manage your own data in Google products, please click here https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3024190

17. Google AdWords - conversion tracking

We use so-called conversion tracking as part of the online advertising programme "Google AdWords" for assessment and optimisation of our online advertising. This helps us to see if and how many people are getting to our pages through Google advertising. If you click on a Google ad, Google puts a so-called conversion cookie on your computer. This has a "life span" of 30 days. If a user reaches one of our sites through one of our Google ads within these 30 days, Google will be able to tell us what the visitor used to come to our site. Personal data from which individual visitors can be identified, are not collected. We only receive a statistical analysis of the total number of users who clicked on our ads and were taken to our site.

You can find out more about Google conversion tracking by following the link below.

You can opt out of using conversion cookies and stop conversion tracking by:

  • Configuring your browser not to accept cookies. Use of our website and services may then be restricted or disabled or else
  • you can deactivate interest-related ads from Google in the Google ad display settings: https://adssettings.google.com

18. Google Ad Manager

On evz.ch we also generate advertising revenue. In order to make ads as targeted as possible and successful for the advertising customer (e.g. by not displaying the same ad over and over again to the same user), we use a so-called Ad Server, which controls advertising displays - for instance through the use of cookies. EVZ uses Google Ad Manager to deliver advertising. Information about this service can be found here: http://cookiepedia.co.uk/cookies/__gads. You can counter the use of Ad Manager cookies by:

  • Configuring your browser so that is does not accept cookies. Use of our website and services may then be restricted or disabled or else
  • you can deactivate interest-related ads from Google in the Google ad display settings: https://adssettings.google.com

19. Embedded YouTube videos

In some of our web pages we have embedded YouTube videos. The operator of these plugins is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you land on a page with a YouTube plugin a connection is set up with the YouTube servers. In this way YouTube gets to know what pages you visit. When you log in with your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your browsing behaviour to your personal profile. You can prevent this if you have previously signed out of your YouTube account.

If a YouTube video starts playing, then a provider cookie comes into play to collect indications as to your user behaviour.

Anyone who has deactivated Google Ad programme cookies will not then have cookies installed when viewing YouTube videos. Youtube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you wish to prevent this then you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

You will find more information on data protection at 'Youtube' in their Privacy Policy: www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy

20. Embedded Vimeo videos

In some of our web pages we have embedded Vimeo videos. The operator of these plugins is Vimeo, LLC whose registered office is at 555 West 18th Street, New York, New York 10011, USA.

When, out of our many Internet pages, you call up one that has such a plugin - for instance, our media library - a connection to the Vimeo servers will be established and the plugin used to display the video. This will provide the Vimeo server with information as to which of our websites you have visited. If you are logged in as a Vimeo member, Vimeo assigns this information to your personal user account. When using the plugin by clicking on the start button of a video, this information is also assigned to your user account. You can prevent this by logging out of your Vimeo user account before using our website and deleting the corresponding Vimeo cookies.

For more information about data processing and privacy by Vimeo, please consult their Privacy Policy on https://vimeo.com/privacy.

21. Social plugins

Our websites use social plugins from the providers listed below. The plugins can be recognised because they bear the appropriate logo.

These plugins may be used to send information, which may include personal information, to the service provider and which may be used by the service provider. We prevent the unconscious and unwanted collection and transmission of data to the service provider through a 2-click solution. To activate a desired social plugin, it must first be activated by clicking on the corresponding button. Only through this activation of the plugin is the detection of information and its transmission to the service provider triggered. We do not collect personally identifiable information by means of social plugins or make use of them.

We have no control over what data an enabled plugin collects and how it is used by the provider. At present, it must be assumed that a direct connection to the services of the provider is established and that at least the IP address and device-related information will be collected and used. It is also possible that the service providers try to store cookies on the computer used. Please refer to the privacy policy of the respective service provider to see specifically what data is collected here and how it is used. A tip from us: If you are logged in at the same time to Facebook, then Facebook can identify you as a visitor to a specific page.

We have incorporated the social media buttons of the following companies in our web pages:

22. Facebook re-marketing/re-targeting

Re-marketing tags from the Facebook social network have been incorporated into our pages: Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. When you visit our pages, re-marketing tags set up a direct connection between your browser and the Facebook server. Facebook receives the information that you have visited our site and what your IP address was. As a result, Facebook can assign your visit to our pages to your user account. We can then use this information when displaying Facebook ads. We would point out that as the provider of the pages we are not aware of the content of the data transmitted and their use by Facebook. More information can be found in the Facebook Privacy Policy at www.facebook.com/about/privacy/.

If you do not want to collect data via Custom Audience, you can disable Custom Audiences here: https://www.facebook.com/ads/preferences/?entry_product=ad_settings_screen

23. Changes to our privacy policy

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy in order to continue to comply with the latest legal requirements or to reflect changes to our services, e.g. when introducing new services.

Your next visit will be subject to our new Privacy Policy.
