In June, Patrick Lengwiler was formally informed by the Board of Directors that his contract with the EVZ would be terminated in autumn 2027 due to differing strategic views. In recent discussions with the Board of Directors, Lengwiler made it clear that, given this situation, he could no longer continue to fulfil his overall responsibilities as CEO of the EVZ and as the client’s representative for the extension of the OYM hall. At his own request, he has stepped down from his post with immediate effect.
Hans-Peter Strebel, Chairman of the Board of Directors: “Patrick Lengwiler has done valuable work for the EVZ over the past 29 years. This is an enormous achievement that deserves to be recognised. We wish Patrick all the very best for the future.”
Patrick Lengwiler shaped the EVZ for almost three decades. He joined the EVZ organisation in 1997 as a junior coach, was promoted to sporting director in 2004 and finally took over as CEO in 2012. Under his leadership, the EVZ has become one of the leading names in Swiss ice hockey.
The EVZ Board of Directors considers it important to maintain direct contact with the team in the current situation. On this basis, possible improvements will be examined jointly and the sporting development of the EVZ will be secured for the long term.
The EVZ Board of Directors will provide information on the next steps in due course. Until then, no further information will be provided.
