10 EVZ players in action with their national teams

No fewer than 10 players from the EVZ Women’s Team are taking part in their respective senior national team camps this week.

A week of women’s ice hockey – with the spotlight on the Swiss national team.

The women’s national team has an eventful few months ahead. The World Championships take place in Denmark this November. And at this week’s training camp in Kloten, a new national coach, Shannon Miller, will be on the bench. Miller is relying heavily on EVZ talent for her first squad selection. No fewer than seven players from the EVZ Women’s Team have been called up for the three matches from Wednesday to Saturday: they are led by captain Lara Stalder, whilst Rahel Enzler, Alina Marti, Jael Manetsch and Luisa Waser have also been selected for the attack. The Zug septet is rounded off by defenders Mara Frey and Nina Harju.

As part of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten, Switzerland will play three matches in four days, against Sweden, Finland and the Czech Republic.

The fixture list:
Wednesday, 19 August, 7.00 pm: Switzerland v Sweden
Friday, 21 August, 7.00 pm: Switzerland v Finland
Saturday, 22 August, 3.00 pm: Switzerland v Czech Republic

Tickets for the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour are available at www.sihf.ch/ticketing.

Leonie Kutzer and Emma Lintner, two Austrian players, are also at this week’s training camp with their national teams. Furthermore, Míra Seregély is in the Hungarian squad. This means that no fewer than 10 (!) players from Zug are currently on the road with a senior national team.

And: Sarah Mettler and Neela Brander, two players from the EVZ Women’s Team, are also in the squad for the Swiss U18 national team this week.

The EVZ is proud of its impressive number of international players, wishes them a successful week on international duty and looks forward to their safe return!
