EVZ celebrates the topping-out ceremony

On Thursday afternoon, 24 September, the EVZ celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the refurbished OYM hall. In the afternoon, the cantonal councillor and the member of the cantonal government were also present.

The EVZ stadium extension, known as the ‘Keep Building’ project, is making great strides. Following the raising of the stadium roof by around 4 metres over the summer, the topping-out ceremony took place this week.

On Thursday lunchtime, in the presence of the EVZ management team, client representative and board member Adrian Risi welcomed around 220 construction workers. Risi expressed his thanks on behalf of the client and the EVZ, after which a communal lunch on the future ice rink of the OYM hall was on the agenda.

In the afternoon, the Zug Cantonal Councillor and Member of the Cantonal Government visited the construction site. Mayor André Wicki and Cantonal Council President Stefan Moos were also present. EVZ CEO Paolo Duca welcomed the distinguished guests together with Board Chairman Hans-Peter Strebel. In his speech, Duca expressed his gratitude for the political support throughout the construction project and emphasised the importance of cooperation between EVZ, the business community, the local population and political representatives.

The next milestone in the ‘Keep Building’ programme is just around the corner. On 23, 24 and 25 October, the EVZ Men’s and Women’s Teams will play their first home matches of the 2026/27 season. The completely refurbished south wing of the OYM Hall will be open to all match-goers. The larger 67 Sportsbar, the new TUGIUM restaurant, Kolin’s Garden, THE BOX and the new EVZ Store will all be celebrating their grand openings on these dates.
