The EVZ signs the 33-year-old center O'Neill until 2024.
From the coming season, the US American Brian O'Neill will play in Zug. The right-shooter comes to central Switzerland from Jokerit Helsinki (KHL), where he collected 283 points (87 goals, 196 assists) in 342 games since 2016. In the 2020/21 season, the center, who can also be used in the wing positions, had the best plus-minus record in the KHL with +30.
"Brian is an incredibly good playmaker who makes his teammates better," says General Manager Reto Kläy about the American newcomer. The 175cm tall and 78kg O'Neill grew up in the state of Pennsylvania, on the east coast of the USA. After studying at Yale, he played for the Manchester Monarchs (AHL) from 2011 to 2015 and won the Calder Cup with them in 2015. Prior to his move to Europe, O'Neill also played 22 games with the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. In 2018 and 2022, the forward made four appearances each with Team USA at the Olympics.
Welcome to Zug, Brian!
