On Sunday afternoon, 12 January, an extraordinary number of fathers and mothers flocked to the BOSSARD Arena with their children on their hands: the Family Game against EHC Biel-Bienne was on the agenda, a game that was to be all about the family. It was also to be a special day for the EVZ’s U9 players – not only were they allowed to skate onto the ice holding hands with their big idols, they were also able to show off their skills to the audience in the sold-out stadium during the first intermission.
Children and their families took centre stage at last Sunday’s Family Game. The next Family Game will take place next Sunday with the Women’s Team.
«LUKAS…» – «BENGTSSON!»
For once, the EVZ fans were not only welcomed to the game by stadium presenter Stefan Kuster, but also by EVZ junior Neo Serena and junior Lena Kaufmann. ‘It was an incredible feeling to be able to greet the whole stadium before the game,’ said Lena afterwards, her eyes shining. The two juniors were also allowed to decide for themselves which players they wanted to select and interview during the interval. For Neo, however, there was a very special highlight: at the end of the game, the U13 player was allowed to announce the Player of the Game. With great enthusiasm, he shouted into the microphone: ‘Lukas’, whereupon the audience chanted ‘Bengtsson!’.
MEET & GREET WITH LEONARDO GENONI
Numerous children also took part in the colouring competition organised by the EVZ in the run-up to the game. The prize was four rink seat tickets for the family and, as a highlight, a meet & greet with their favourite player after the game. The winner was Marlo Schlumpf, himself a street hockey goalie and therefore a big fan of EVZ goalie Leonardo Genoni. As a surprise, he not only met his great idol in the catacombs, but also his namesake Dominik Schlumpf!
Of course, we don’t want to withhold a selection of the children’s drawings from you…
NEXT FAMILY GAME ON SUNDAY
Next Sunday, 19 January, the next Family Game will take place as part of the Women’s game against SC Langenthal from 2.30 pm. Visitors can look forward to an exciting competition and the little ones can have their faces painted in the EVZ colours!
