Roger Hansson returns to the EVZ

The Swede will be assistant to new Head Coach Michael Liniger for the next two seasons.

Roger Hansson is very familiar with the EVZ organization: in 2019, the 57-year-old took over as Head Coach of the EVZ Academy in the Swiss League and as Head of Player Development at Zug. After three years in central Switzerland, the Swede was hired as Head Coach by Düsseldorfer EG (DEL), after one season he returned to his native Ängelholm to Rögle BK, where he was promoted from Assistant to Head Coach in December 2023. After a mixed regular season, Hansson led the 2022 CHL champions from 9th place in the spring of 2024 with three sweeps from the round of 16 to the final, where they ultimately fell short only to Skellefteå.

Roger Hansson is now returning to Zug and completing the coaching staff of Head Coach Michael Liniger, Assistant Coach Tomas Montén and Goalie Coach Simon Pfister. “Roger brings an enormous amount of experience as a coach – both at the highest level and in developing young players,” says General Manager Reto Kläy about the appointment of the new assistant coach.
