Kubalík joins EVZ for two years

EVZ signs Czech forward Dominik Kubalík until 2027.

Last season, Dominik Kubalík was crowned the Biancoblù’s top scorer and the league’s top scorer in qualifying with HC Ambrì-Piotta. Now the 29-year-old 2024 world champion will be on the hunt for points for EVZ for the next two years.

The tall winger (187 cm, 86 kg) not only brings scoring ability to Zug, but also plenty of international experience: Before returning to Switzerland, the Czech played for the Chicago Blackhawks, the Detroit Red Wings and the Ottawa Senators in the NHL for five years. After his NHL debut on October 4, 2019, he collected 184 points (97 goals, 87 assists) in 366 games.

Kubalík, who grew up in Pilsen, won the gold medal with the Czech national team in the final against Switzerland at the home World Championships in May 2024. He has already made a total of 188 appearances for his country, scoring 79 goals and providing 52 assists.

«Dominik is an experienced player with leadership qualities. With his speed, his intelligence and his shot, he will be a reinforcement for us in the wing position.»

General Manager Reto Kläy about the new addition

“With a player of his caliber, the NHL is of course always a topic and we are aware of the risk that Dominik would take the step back to North America should he receive a corresponding offer,” explains GM Reto Kläy.
