Two matches, six points, a goal difference of 11–2, and Leonardo Genoni keeping a clean sheet for a full 88 minutes at the start of the season – EVZ have made a very good start to the 2026/27 NL season.

If this excellent start is to become a dream start, they’ll need to pick up points in Lugano too. Will they manage it? The Zug side have few fond memories of their last away trip to Ticino. In the final game of the regular season, they suffered a 1–4 defeat following a lacklustre performance. A wake-up call at just the right time. The EVZ subsequently managed to qualify for the play-offs via the play-ins after all.

Half a year later, the Zug side are travelling to Lugano in a very different frame of mind. The mood within the team is very good – hardly surprising after the two convincing victories in Lausanne and Davos. The injury report looks much the same as last week’s. It is possible, however, that Gregory Hofmann will return to the line-up. Tomas Tatar is travelling to Ticino in particularly high spirits. The Slovak made headlines across the league with his four-goal haul on Saturday. Although many NL players already have three games under their belts, it is Tomas Tatar who tops the Postfinance scoring charts.

After three matches, HC Lugano are still waiting for their first win after 60 minutes. The Zug side will do everything in their power to ensure it stays that way. Like EVZ, the Bianconeri have also played just two matches this season. They got off to a decent start, beating Genève-Servette 6–3 at their home ground, the Cornèr Arena. Disappointment followed three days later: somewhat surprisingly, they suffered a clear 2–5 defeat away to the Kloten Flyers.
