A lot has happened at EVZ over the summer break. From today, Tuesday, we’re finally back in action! In the National League, the first fixture is an away match in Lausanne!

The Zug team’s last competitive match took place on 29 March 2026. On that occasion, they lost Game 5 of the quarter-final series away at HC Davos and were forced to end their season prematurely. A lot has changed since then.

Lauri Marjamäki is now in charge on the sidelines. The Finn has managed Kloten for the past two seasons and will make his competitive debut on Tuesday at the EVZ. During pre-season, Zug won six out of seven friendly matches under Marjamäki – a strong record. But it’s the results in Lausanne from today that will count.

EVZ are set to see no fewer than six newcomers make their National League debuts in blue and white on Tuesday. Jacob Moverare and Eric Schneller in defence; Rico Gredig, Vinzenz Rohrer, Nik Petrovic and Chris Egli in attack. Mathieu Croce is also new to the Zug squad as the second goalkeeper. EVZ will have to do without the long-term injured Lino Martschini and Mike Künzle, joined since last weekend by Gregory Hofmann and Dominik Kubalik. All four players are listed as ‘week-to-week’ in the medical report.

EVZ will face Lausanne HC in their opening match. The team’s memories of this opponent from last season are not all positive. In their last outing at the Vaudoise Arena, Zug were swept out of the arena with a 7–0 defeat. The team from western Switzerland have won four of their six pre-season matches, most recently securing clear victories over Sierre (6–1) and the Bruleurs de Loups de Grenoble (5–1). Last season, the Lions were knocked out in the quarter-finals by their arch-rivals Genève-Servette. Who will get off to the better start on Tuesday? Zug or Lausanne?
