EVZ reacts to the injury-related absence of Niklas Hansson and signs the Swedish defender Adam Almquist until the end of the season.
The EVZ equips defender Adam Almquist with a contract until the end of the season. Most recently, the Swede was under contract with Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL. In 25 games he scored 1 goal and 1 assist each.
Almquist was trained in Sweden at HV71 and was drafted in the seventh round by the Detroit Red Wings in 2009. Between 2012 and 2014 he made two appearances in the NHL, spending most of his time in North America with the farm team in the AHL. In 2014, the 181cm tall and 77kg left-shooter moved to Severstal Cherepovets in the KHL. This was followed by further stints in the SHL with his parent club HV71 and Frölunda Gothenburg, as well as in the KHL with Admiral Vladivostok, Dinamo Minsk and most recently Traktor Chelyabinsk. In between, Almquist was under contract with SC Bern in the 2018/19 season.
“Adam is an intelligent defender who can make the game fast with his good passing game and set offensive accents,” said General Manager Reto Kläy. “He also brings great experience. I’m pleased that he will strengthen us until the end of the season.”
