The Biancoblù were pleased to announce some good news on Wednesday: Czech Dominik Kubalik is returning! At least for the time being – the league’s top scorer of 2018-19 (25 goals, 32 assists) has a contract with Ambrì for this season, but has an opt-out clause for the NHL. Should he be able to sign a new contract by December 15, he will return to North America. Kubalik played the last five years for the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings and Ottawa Senators, scoring 97 goals and 87 assists in 366 games. In May, he – together with Daniel Voženílek – won the world championship title at the home World Championship in the Czech Republic. The 29-year-old is likely to play in Friday’s friendly against EVZ.
The Leventines have made a successful start to their pre-season preparations, winning all five of their test games in August. Last Tuesday, however, they suffered their first defeat against HC Davos. EVZ is still unbeaten in the pre-season and wants to keep its slate clean in the second-to-last test.
The EVZ travels to the Leventina for a test game against Ambrì-Piotta on Friday evening.
