Zug proved their strength in form with a commanding 5-0 win over EHC Kloten on Tuesday: four wins from their last five games, three of them in a row. This game came in the wake of Head Coach Dan Tangnes’ announcement that he would be leaving EVZ at the end of the current season to be closer to his family in Sweden. The organization has complied with his wishes and is allowing his contract, which was originally set to run for another year, to expire. In the win against EHC Kloten, Ludvig Johnson, one of the many young players Dan Tangnes has fostered in his almost seven-year coaching career at the BOSSARD Arena, celebrated his National League goal-scoring debut – a sign of the consistent approach of the organization and its coach.
On Thursday (November 28, 7:45 pm), the EVZ will host the ZSC Lions in the BOSSARD Arena.
The reigning champions ZSC Lions come to Zug on Thursday, a team that has managed a turnaround after three consecutive defeats and recently celebrated two victories (5:1 against HC Lugano and 4:1 at the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers). The Zurich team is in the middle of a derby week. The Zürisee derby on Tuesday and the Z derby on Thursday will be followed by the cantonal derby against EHC Kloten on Friday.
The first meeting between Zug and the ZSC Lions ended 5:4 in favor of the latter. Loris Wey remembers it well: the 18-year-old EVZ forward scored his only goal in the National League to date.
