The long wait is over: On Friday, the EVZ starts the playoff quarter-final series against HC Davos with a home game. The affair is synonymous with the last meeting between Dan Tangnes and Josh Holden. The HCD head coach is a legend at EVZ. After 19 professional seasons, he ended his active career in 2018, after which he launched his career as an assistant coach under Dan Tangnes. In 2023, the Canadian, who has also held a Swiss passport since 2018, moved to HCD as Head Coach.
Of the eight head-to-head duels between Tangnes and Holden to date, four have gone to the Norwegian and four to the Canadian-Swiss. Despite the friendship between the two wine lovers (more on this in the MySports documentary “Dan Tangnes – End of an Era”), the two teams will give each other nothing in the quarter-finals.
This Friday (March 14, 20:00) the playoffs start for the EVZ! HC Davos awaits in the quarter-finals.
The duel between the EVZ and the HCD will also be a test of strength between the two goaltenders Leonardo Genoni and Sandro Aeschlimann. The current Davos goalie played in Central Switzerland from 2016 until Genoni’s arrival in 2019. In the past regular season, Aeschlimann recorded a save percentage of 91.74% in 34 games, while Genoni was only just ahead with 91.91% in 22 games played.
While Genoni is aiming for his eighth Swiss championship title overall this spring, his counterpart is aiming for his second semi-final qualification in the National League since 2021 – opponent back then: the EVZ. We all know how that series ended…
Last tickets for the first home game of the EVZ are available in the ticket store and on the marketplace (be sure to check on the day of the game). The EVZ asks all spectators to arrive at the stadium early, as there may be longer waiting times due to the high number of visitors at the entrance. The doors of the BOSSARD Arena open at 6.30 pm, the box office opens at 6.15 pm. The EVZ fan store on the arena square will be open from 6.00 pm.
With a ticket for the National League home games, you can travel free of charge on public transport (bus/light rail) within the Zug fare network from three hours before the start of the game to the arena and back again up to two hours after the game. 15 minutes after the end of the match, the extra ZVB buses will take you home in comfort.
