Thanks to a 4:1 victory against Lausanne HC and the simultaneous defeat of HC Davos in Rapperswil, Zug was able to win back home ice for the playoff quarter-finals in extremis. There, the Zug team will face the same Davos team on March 14. This also means that Dan Tangnes and Josh Holden will meet for the last time.
The EVZ finishes the qualification in 4th place and will face the fifth-placed HCD. Tickets for the EVZ home games go on sale on Wednesday, March 5 at 10:00 am.
The Grisons’ last regular-season game against the SCRJ Lakers was even for a long time – if Davos had scored the extra point in overtime, they would have been level on points with Zug and could have maintained 4th place with the better head-to-head. However, Rappi scored the 2:1 with 51 seconds remaining to secure play-in qualification.
HEAD-TO-HEAD
As mentioned, Davos have the edge in the head-to-head duels against EVZ. They won once away and once at home, while the EVZ kept the three points at home in the second home game, but only won in a shootout in Davos in mid-February.
TEAM COMPARISON
A look at the statistics of the two quarter-final opponents shows that the EVZ has scored 0.5 goals more per game than the HCD. In terms of special teams, the Zug team is convincing in terms of superior numbers, while the Davos team is convincing in terms of penalty killing. At 53.46%, no other team has won more faceoffs.

TOP SCORER
At EVZ, Lino Martschini was crowned top scorer with 44 points from 47 games, while Adam Tambellini will wear the Flames helmet in the playoffs thanks to 22 goals and 19 assists in 52 games for Davos.
