Under the motto “Run, roll and walk together for those who can’t”, the flagship run of the hashtag WingsforLifeWorldRun took place in Zug on Sunday, 10 May. 8,000 runners gathered in Zug and 4,657 took part via run apps throughout Switzerland.
Among them was a strong EVZ trio: Nina Harju, Nik Petrovic and Lara Stalder held up the EVZ flag in Zug and represented both the women’s and men’s teams. The Wings for Life World Run works as follows: There is no finish line. All participants, regardless of their time zone, start at exactly the same time worldwide. Thirty minutes later, a catcher car starts to catch up with the runners, with everyone being eliminated one by one as they are overtaken. The last person to be caught up is declared the winner.
Other Swiss sports celebrities were also at the starting line in Zug. Ski king Marco Odermatt did the honours, as did Daniela Ryf and Simon Ehammer. All proceeds from the Wings for Life Run organised by Red Bull go towards research into spinal cord injuries.
