Dominik Schlumpf has played a key role in shaping the EVZ on and off the ice in recent years. Now they are parting ways, his contract has expired at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Dominik Schlumpf is one of the longest-serving EVZ players. He joined Zug in November 2014 at the age of 23 as part of a special swap deal: Alessio Bertaggia and Calle Andersson went from EVZ to Lugano, while national team defenceman Dominik Schlumpf went the other way round. Schlumpf arrived suddenly – and then stayed in central Switzerland for a whole twelve seasons.
Schlumpf’s time at EVZ is synonymous with Zug’s upswing in Swiss ice hockey: regular appearances in the playoff semi-finals and final, which led first to the 2019 Cup victory and then to the 2021 and 2022 Swiss championship titles.
