It’s a top game in quotation marks when league leaders EVZ face second-placed Bassersdorf in the SWHL B. The two teams are separated by 12 points and a goal difference of 263 in favor of Zug. They won the first meeting of the current season against the Zurich team 15-0 and are doing everything they can to finish the qualifying campaign without losing a point. A win on Saturday in Wallisellen (game starts at 2.30 p.m.) is half the battle to achieve this. The following day, the last game of the qualifiers awaits at home in the BOSSARD Arena against DHC Lyss (puck drop at 2.45 pm). The Bernese team is fighting against falling into the playout.
The EVZ Women’s Team will face Bassersdorf Ladies on Saturday (2.30 pm, Sportanlagen Wallisellen) and Lyss on Sunday (2.45 pm, BOSSARD Arena) at the end of the SWHL B qualifying round.
A REVIEW OF THE SWISS NATIONAL TEAM WEEKEND
Last weekend was an international break. The Swiss senior national team competed in the finals of the Euro Hockey Tour in the Czech Republic (2 wins and 2 losses). Seven players from Zug were in the squad. However, defender Annic Büchi did not even make the trip due to injury, while Noemi Ryhner and Lena-Marie Lutz were ruled out with injuries after the first game against Germany. They will not play in the game against Bassersdorf Ladies either. The remaining players are forwards Lara Stalder, Naemi Herzig and Ivana Wey as well as defender Nadine Hofstetter.

EMOTIONAL UPS AND DOWNS FOR NAEMI HERZIG
For Naemi Herzig in particular, who recently captained the U18 national team at the World Cup in the BOSSARD Arena, it was an emotional rollercoaster ride. The 16-year-old from St. Gallen scored the winning goal in the 4:3 victory against Sweden – after trailing 3:0. In the final match, she was part of a misunderstanding that led to the decisive goal for the Czech Republic in overtime. “Both sides, the positive and the negative, are part of sport,” says the forward, who became Swiss champion with the ZSC Lions in 2022 and 2023. She is now looking ahead to the decisive phase with EVZ and says: “The last two qualifying games are about taking the next step to be ready for the best time of the year.” Naemi Herzig’s personal goal is to maintain the high level of the international matches in the championship.
