Rahel Enzler kehrt zurück in die Heimat

The 23-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with EVZ.

Rahel Enzler is returning to the origins of her ice hockey career: as a four-year-old, she took her first steps on the ice at the EVZ field hockey school. It was the start of a journey that now takes her back to Zug via Seewen, Zurich, Küssnacht am Rigi, Rapperswil-Jona, Reinach and Orono in the state of Maine (USA).

«Above all, it’s a matter close to my heart to play for my home canton again. The EVZ’s Women & Girls program has convinced me – you can feel that the entire organization is behind the project and that it is well received in the region. At EVZ, I have the opportunity to develop as a player thanks to the professional structures.»

For Head Coach Daniela Diaz, too, the signing of the national player until 2026 is an absolute win. With her, another top Swiss player is returning to her home country.

«She is not only a great asset for us, but also for the league. She has excellent game intelligence and a dangerous nose for goal. Rahel has her roots at EVZ – I am very happy about her commitment.»

The left-hand shooter played the past four years for the University of Maine, where she also completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration. For the Black Bears, she was also regularly used in power-play and penalty-kill and scored 26 points (6 goals, 20 assists) in 35 games last season. At the Women’s World Championship in Utica (USA) in April, she played alongside her future teammates Lara Stalder and Ivana Wey, among others.
