Perspectives for women and girls

Together with EHC Sursee, EVZ wants to strengthen the Central Switzerland region.

With the launch of the Women & Girls program at the beginning of 2023, EVZ set itself the goal of promoting equal opportunities in ice hockey. The semi-professional women’s team in the area of competitive sports and the Young Bulls girls’ field hockey school, which enabled around 50 girls to start playing ice hockey in the first year, formed the cornerstone of the program. From the 2024/25 season, the first EVZ Girls Team will be set up at U9 level, and an U11 team with girls from Central Switzerland will also be registered in the Young Bulls association. The aim is to have a girls’ team at every age level by 2030.

Another piece of the puzzle is the partnership with EHC Sursee in the SWHL B. Their intention is a sustainable and long-term collaboration to further develop and strengthen women’s ice hockey in the Central Switzerland region. The vision is to give every girl and woman – regardless of their age and ability – the opportunity to play ice hockey in the region.

In addition to the promotion of talent, the partnership also focuses on the exchange of coaching staff and the transfer of know-how between the organizations. Both teams are committed to promoting young players in Central Switzerland and are part of the Young Bulls Association’s girls’ projects, which already offered base training sessions and friendly matches for girls from the region last season. “We want to encourage young
