EVZ players score all Swiss goals

Six Zug players were in the national team line-up for the first tournament of the new Euro Hockey Tour for women.

The Swiss women’s national team won one game and lost two at the opening tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour in Kloten. After losing 4-1 to Sweden, the Swiss women managed to turn things around and beat the Czech Republic (2-1 on penalties) before losing 2-1 to Finland. The influence of players from the EVZ Women’s Team on the national team was remarkable. Lara Stalder scored the goal against the Czech Republic to make it 1:1 and the only goal in the shootout. The scorers against Sweden (Naemi Herzig) and Finland (Rahel Enzler) were also Zug players.

Originally, seven EVZ players were in the squad. However, Noemi Ryhner and Annic Büchi were not able to make the squad for health reasons, as called up by national team coach and former Zug player Colin Muller. Nina Harju, a Zug player, replaced Büchi. EVZ forward Lena-Marie Lutz was also part of the team. Her summary of the tournament in Kloten? “They were very competitive games, as our opponents included a lot of PWHL players. I’m positive that we were able to improve after the weak first game.”
