New video cube for the BOSSARD Arena

During the last week a lot has happened in the BOSSARD Arena in Zug! From now on you can marvel at the new cube!

After about ten years, the video cube was brought back to the ground in the BOSSARD Arena, dismantled and transported out of the arena. The new cube was then assembled, installed and pulled under the arena roof in around 300 working hours. With the new video cube, a completely new viewing experience awaits the spectators in the BOSSARD Arena: 150 square meters of LED surface in 360° design in Full HD resolution! We can be curious!

Facts & Figures:

  • Weight: 6.3 tons
  • LED surface: 150 m2, 360° design
  • Size: 8.32 x 8.32 x 5.0 meters
  • Resolution: 6240×1040 pixels, total 6.49Mpixel

The Swedish companies iCast and 2nd Planet were responsible for the production and installation, the local support was provided by the sponsoring partners Bild+Ton AG, Marcel Hufschmid AG and Schneider Umweltservice.

Why was the cube changed? The technology of the previous system was actually outdated and the support was no longer sufficient, so the project had been on the to-do list for some time. In addition, the replacement of the video cube was to take place at the same time as the installation of the new acoustic system and lighting by the city. The investment in the new cube was made before the Corona crisis.

What happens to the old cube? The four scoreboards were donated to the Rigihalle in Küssnacht, the LED panels could also be reused. The rest was mostly dead material and had to be disposed of.
