What will happen on the construction site over the summer? What will be new at the start of the 2026/27 season? What does this mean for me as a matchgoer in the new season? Click here for an update on the stadium expansion!

What is the current state of affairs?

Construction work on the renovation of EVZ’s home ground is proceeding according to plan. Stage 5 of 9 will be completed by the end of May 2026. A detailed overview of the Keep Building project and the individual construction stages can be found on our website. General questions and answers about the stadium expansion can be found by clicking on the link below. And: We have been filming the stadium expansion since it began. FAQ KEEP BUILDING

What work is due in summer 2026?

Construction stage 6, the most interesting part of “Keep Building” to date, will start in June 2026. After the National Games taking place in the OYM hall at the end of May, the arena will be completely closed.

Inside, everything is being prepared for the raising of the stadium roof. This lifting is expected to start on 20 July 2026 and will take 8-10 days. The necessary supporting scaffolding work will also have to be carried out inside the stadium for the roof lift. This may lead to extended working hours – which have been approved by the city of Zug – and additional noise emissions. The ECC attaches great importance to minimising these as far as possible. The residents affected were informed personally by letter on 8 May.

The main focus in summer 2026 will be on the south extension. Sportsbar 67 will be rebuilt on the ground floor and made more spacious. A new, spacious EVZ Fan Store will also be built on the ground floor. The new Tugium restaurant (Latin for “train”) is under construction on the first floor on the south side.

The new Sportsbar 67, the Fan Store and the Tugium will be open for the start of the 2026/27 season.

What does the reorganisation mean for the EVZ match schedule?

Both the men’s and women’s teams will only play away games at the start of the season in September. The Men’s Team’s first home game will take place on Friday evening, 23 October in the OYM hall. Sportsbar 67, Tugium and the Fan Store will then also be open to all matchgoers.

What does the remodelling mean for EVZ season ticket holders?

In the 2026/27 season, everything will remain the same. In the 2027/28 season, the OYM hall will then have a capacity of 9,000 seats and the allocation of seats will have to be rethought due to the expansion. There will be a clear list of priorities for this “new allocation of seats”; all season ticket holders for the 2026/27 season will be given priority and can register their priorities in good time.
