EVZ signs the 24-year-old defender Elia Riva until 2025.
Defender Elia Riva moves from HC Lugano to the EVZ for the upcoming season. He signs a two-year contract with the Zug club. Riva learned the field hockey ABC at HC Ambri-Piotta, later he switched to the junior department of HC Lugano. With the team from the south of Ticino, he developed steadily and finally made the leap to the first team. In the meantime, he has become an integral part of the Luganesi defense and has already made his first appearances in the Swiss national team.
The 179cm tall and 82kg defender has 47 scorer points in 262 appearances in the National League so far. This season, the Ticino native has scored 2 goals and contributed 5 assists in 26 games.
“Elia is a strong defender who is strong in two fights and robust and will add stability to our defense,” said General Manager Reto Kläy. “He already brings several years of experience despite his young age. I am pleased that he will strengthen us.”
