Andreas Wingerli signs with EVZ

The Swedish forward joins EVZ from Skellefteå AIK. He has signed a two-year contract in Zug.

Andreas Wingerli comes from Lycksele in northern Sweden, where the 25-year-old also learned the basics of ice hockey. In 2013, the left-handed shooter switched to the youth department of Skellefteå AIK. Two years later he made it into the first team and signed his first professional contract. Wingerli was under contract with the Swedish top club until spring 2021 and was called up for the World Cup with the Swedish national team for the first time in the same year.

For the 2021/22 season, the 173 cm tall and 77 kg heavy winger decided to move overseas to the organization of the Colorado Avalanche. In the NHL team, however, he did not get a place in the NHL Team and completed the entire season with the Colorado Eagles farm team in the American Hockey League. The following season, Wingerli returned to Skellefteå and scored 15 goals and 20 assists in 69 games. At +25, he also had the best plus-minus record in the entire league during the regular season.

After a total of nine years in the organization of Skellefteå, Andreas Wingerli will now tackle a new challenge in Zug. He has signed a contract with EVZ until 2025. “Andreas is a fast, agile and intelligent player who gives our offensive game more opportunities. However, his plus-minus balance clearly shows that he is also extremely reliable on the defensive and takes responsibility. I’m very happy that he will play for EVZ for the next two years,” says General Manager Reto Kläy.

This means that the foreign selection from Zug is set for the 2023/24 season. Marc Michaelis (GER), Lukas Bengtsson (SWE) and Andreas Wingerli (SWE) complete the import group around the former Jan Kovar (CZE, since 2019), Niklas Hansson (SWE, 2021) and Brian O’Neill (USA, 2022). ).
