The free TV games will be spread over regular match days and individual Thursdays. “Sunday evening games have proven to be difficult for the clubs and viewers,” says Denis Vaucher, CEO of the National League. “Thursday evenings, on the other hand, have always been a familiar matchday in the playoff calendar. With this adjustment, we hope to meet the wishes of fans and TV partners alike.”
The fixture list for the coming season, which is finalized and published in June, currently includes games on at least eight Thursdays. Another new feature is that each team will play at least once on a Sunday afternoon at 3.45 pm. The reason for this is to make National League games more accessible for families and children in particular.
With a view to the coming season, the free-to-air live games will no longer take place on Sunday evenings. This was decided by the National League in consultation with MySports.
