Medical Update

Grégory Hofmann and Niklas Hansson are expected to return for the start of the season.

The two long-term injured players will make their first appearance of the season on Friday evening in the preseason game against HC Davos. If everything goes according to plan, they should also be in the lineup for the first championship game against HC Lugano on Tuesday. Hofmann suffered an injury with the national team in February and had to undergo surgery, which meant a premature end to the season. Niklas Hansson also underwent surgery after the season and has been convalescing ever since.

However, as announced on Tuesday, goalie Leonardo Genoni will miss the start of the season and will be absent for several weeks. In his place, U20-Elit goalie Santo Simmchen will move up to the 1st team and is the number 2 behind Tim Wolf.

BAD LUCK WITH INJURIES FOR WOMEN TOO

Around a month ago, forward Vanessa Ryhner injured her foot at training camp and will miss several months with the women’s team. While playing with the national team as part of the Women’s Euro Hockey Tour (WEHT), defender Nina Harju also suffered a foot injury and will most likely miss the start of the season.

Defender Annic Büchi, who missed the WEHT due to an injury, is back in training. She will be ready for action at the EWHL Euro Cup this weekend.
