Lauri Marjamäki will take over as Head Coach of EVZ on 1 May 2026. Over the past two seasons, Marjamäki coached EHC Kloten, leading the club to the playoffs in his debut season. From 2016 to 2018, he served as Head Coach of the Finnish national team. In his home country of Finland, Marjamäki coached two top clubs, Kärpät and Jokerit. He won the Finnish championship twice and was once named Coach of the Year in the Liiga.
Lauri Marjamäki, who still has a contract in Kloten through the end of the 2026/27 season, will move to EVZ with immediate effect. This deal also includes Michael Liniger. The former EVZ Head Coach will succeed Marjamäki in Kloten, and his contract with the club in Zug, which was due to run until spring 2027, will be terminated as of 30 April 2026.
The appointment of Lauri Marjamäki also definitively marks the end of Benoît Groulx’s time at EVZ. The Franco-Canadian took over as Head Coach at the end of January in a difficult situation and led the club into the playoff quarter-finals via the play-ins. Groulx had signed an agreement through the end of the 2025/26 season. EVZ would like to thank Benoît Groulx for his service and wishes him all the best for the future.
