Lauri Marjamäki’s first day in Zug

Last week, the new EVZ Head Coach Lauri Marjamäki took a first look at his new employer.

On 30 April, the EVZ introduced Lauri Marjamäki as its new head coach. The Finn was still in his home country at the time.

Shortly after the ink was dry on all the contracts, Lauri Marjamäki travelled to Zug. During his two-day visit, the first steps were taken to plan the 2026/27 season. Among other things, the new head coach took part in the kick-off event for all EVZ Pro Coaches led by GM Reto Kläy and paid a visit to the OYM, the realm of the first team.

Marjamäki: “I’ve never been to the OYM before. The conditions on site are great! I thought it was important to pay a visit in advance. It will help me to plan as well as possible for the pre-season. And it was good to get to know some of the players in advance.”

The new Head Coach is looking forward to his new role in Central Switzerland: “I’m the kind of coach who really wants to win. I see a lot of potential and I’m really looking forward to the challenge with the EVZ!”

While most of the EVZ players are busy in summer training, Marjamäki and his staff are now preparing for the new season. During his visit to Zug, the Finn also gave the Zuger Zeitung an initial insight into his work. The interview can be read by clicking on the link below.
