Leonardo Genoni has extended his contract with EVZ until 2030!

Leonardo Genoni’s contract with EVZ was due to expire in spring 2027. Now, the Zug club and the two-time EVZ championship-winning goalkeeper have agreed to extend his contract early by three years. Genoni will therefore remain in goal for EVZ at least until the end of the 2029/2030 season and continue his exceptional career on Lake Zug.

Leonardo Genoni: “In the end, it was a simple decision: I feel in top form, I want to continue playing ice hockey at the highest level, and I sense the confidence of the EVZ management that they want to continue to rely on me fully in the future. Together with the team, I am highly motivated to achieve success again in the coming seasons, and I’d like to achieve a great deal more here in Zug.”

With Leonardo Genoni, one of Swiss ice hockey’s all-time greats remains on board at EVZ. The goalkeeper moved to Zug from SC Bern in 2019 and was a key pillar of the two championship-winning teams in 2021 and 2022. To date, Genoni has played 343 competitive matches for EVZ (313 in the National League, 27 in the Champions Hockey League, 3 cup matches) and recorded 30 shutouts. The Swiss national goalkeeper (four-time World Championship silver medallist) is also set to make history once again this autumn: With 988 National League appearances to date for Davos, Bern and Zug, Genoni is on the verge of joining the 1,000-game club – a milestone that no NL goalkeeper has yet reached.
