Since the 2022-23 season, Suihkonen has played a central role in “The Hockey Academy” training concept and is largely responsible for the development of young players and coaches.
General Manager Reto Kläy emphasizes the importance of this contract extension: “Ted has done an outstanding job in recent years. The further development of young players is one of his core competencies and enables us to optimally promote the talents of our youngsters and introduce them to the National League level even earlier.”
The EVZ extends the contract with Head of Development Ted Suihkonen until 2028.

The work of the Swedish-American dual citizen not only includes coaching the U17 and U20 elite teams, but also working closely with the first team and the younger levels from U15 upwards. While the Head Coach has to lead his team to success and is always thinking about the next game, the Development Coach is responsible for the long-term development of the athletes and coaches.
By extending the contract until 2028, the EVZ is sending a clear signal of continuity and the ongoing development of its youth development work.
