EVZ vs ZSC Lions Frauen

The Cup winners will welcome the Zurich team to the BOSSARD Arena on Thursday (January 30, 7.30 p.m.).

Winning the National Cup last Sunday has given the Zug team additional confidence for the PostFinance Women’s League. “The championship title is our next goal. We proved in the Cup final that we’re ready for it,” says EVZ goalie Eveliina Mäkinen. On Thursday, the team can put its words into action. The ZSC Lions will be visiting the BOSSARD Arena.

The fifth-placed team from Zurich currently have 23 points fewer than second-placed Zug. However, they won the last meeting at the end of November (2:0). It is the only game in which the women’s team has not scored a goal. This success seemed to be the starting signal for the record champions to catch up. However, the ZSC Lions subsequently lost three in a row. However, they have not dropped a point so far in January and most recently defeated the Cup finalists HC Fribourg-Gottéron 6:4.

With five rounds to go, Zug have a good chance of winning the qualifiers. In terms of points lost, they are two points ahead of SC Bern and three points ahead of HC Davos Ladies. Including the cup matches, they have now won ten competitive games in a row. However, there is no room for resting on their laurels: “The Cup win and the way we won are certainly good for us. But we have to keep working hard to stay successful,” says EVZ defender Nina Harju. She scored the game-winner in the 5:3 win in the Cup final against HCFG to make it 4:3.
