“It was an emotional rollercoaster!” said captain Lara Stalder after the nerve-wracking final game against Fribourg. Despite dominating the game, the Zug team were 2-0 down after the first period. The supposed equalizer to make it 1:1 was disallowed, and in return they conceded the second goal in the 14th minute. Stalder did not let that go and in the second period it was she who brought her team back into the game with two goals. But the joy after the equalizer was short-lived – just 30 seconds after the 2:2, Fribourg restored the lead shortly before the end of the middle period.
The EVZ lifted the Cup trophy thanks to a 5-3 win against HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies.
Zug then really turned up the heat again in the final period and took control of the game. Three minutes after the restart, Rahel Enzler equalized, and two minutes later Zug took the lead for the first time thanks to a goal from Nina Harju. However, the numerous EVZ fans in attendance had to tremble until the 53rd minute before Enzler scored again to make it 5:3 and deservedly bring the Cup victory to Zug after the bitter defeat in the penalty shoot-out against SC Bern last year.
