In 2023, the EVZ launched a program to get girls and women interested in ice hockey and offer them equal opportunities. The Women & Girls program is not a stand-alone project or brand, but an integral part of the club. With the vision “DO IT RIGHT OR NOT AT ALL”, the club is setting new standards and has quickly gained sponsorship partners who share this ambition. The aim is to set an example and inspire others to get involved in women’s sport. After all, women’s sport is a global growth market and not just a charity project.
The EVZ Women & Girls program was awarded the special Pioneer prize on Wednesday, March 12 as part of the Night of Sponsoring 2025.
The EVZ Women & Girls program is a pioneering achievement, as the promotion of women in ice hockey is being driven forward with great consistency – both athletically and commercially. This is achieved with sponsors who are dedicated to the topic and implement the activation very independently.
The appreciation of the jury of Sponsoring Schweiz
For the EVZ, the award is a great appreciation of what has already been achieved and a confirmation of the path the organization has taken. “Our vision was clear from the start – fair and sustainable promotion of girls and women in ice hockey,” says Ibi Can, Head of Marketing & Sales. This has also convinced EVZ’s sponsors and partners: existing and new partners have been won over to the project and in its second year of existence, the Women & Girls program is already practically self-supporting. “This would not be possible without the support of numerous partners and sponsors as well as a great and growing audience. They all deserve the greatest respect and show that Zug is a hockey city, not only for men and boys, but also for women and girls.”
