Sini Karjalainen arrived in Zug on Thursday evening and will train with the Zug women’s team for the first time on Friday. The long-serving Finnish international will be able to bolster the EVZ defence as early as the season opener on Saturday 12 September in Neuchâtel.
The EVZ Women’s Team has responded to a number of injury-related absences, as well as Annika Fazokas’s suspension, by signing Sini Karjalainen (27) until 18 October. The Finnish defender is currently in Zug preparing for the Vancouver Goldeneyes’ (PWHL) training camp.
“I’m delighted that Sini will be part of our team over the coming weeks. With her experience, her presence is invaluable not only on the ice but also in the changing room.”
Daniela Diaz, Head Coach of the EVZ Women’s Team, on Sini Karjalainen
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about the EVZ and the organisation. When the opportunity arose, I was immediately interested.”

In Zug, Karjalainen will also be reunited with her former team-mate Millie Rose Sirum. “My discussions with Millie and Daniela have confirmed to me that this is the perfect opportunity for me. EVZ offers me the ideal chance to take the next step in my career, to develop both as a player and as a person, whilst at the same time playing my part in ensuring that we achieve our goals as a team.”
