“Home matches here in Zug are something special, with the crowd, the fans and the whole atmosphere. They’re part of who we are and give us a huge boost,” says Head Coach Daniela Diaz. It was precisely during the turbulent period, with so many players out and injuries, that this support was sorely missed. This makes the anticipation of returning to Zug all the greater. For Diaz, the closeness to the fans is a key part of the team’s development: “The fans give us a real boost.” She believes the more than 1,100 season tickets sold are further proof that this enthusiasm is growing.
Defender Mara Frey is also looking forward to the special atmosphere in the OYM hall. Above all, she remembers the girls with the sparkling eyes from previous seasons: “It’s absolutely brilliant that the women’s team inspires so many people here in Zug.” What used to impress her as an opponent, she is now experiencing for herself in the EVZ jersey: the support of the whole stadium.
