EVZ won the cup final against HC Davos Ladies 4:0. Captain Lara Stalder with a hat-trick and Leonie Kutzer were the scorers. It was the third cup final in the third season since the Women’s Team was founded. After losing the first one (1:2 against SC Bern), the Zug team prevailed in the next two: 2025 against HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies (5:3), and now against HC Davos Ladies.
The Zug women win the National Cup again and celebrate their success in style. But now the focus is already on the next goal.
EVZ forward Rahel Enzler cites the strong collective as the key to their recent success. “We fought for each other and the belief in ourselves was tangible at all times,” she says. Defenceman Nina Harju emphasises the excellent atmosphere in the team. This continued after the end of the game: “The celebrations were very loud and boisterous from the dressing room to Zug.” Goalie Chiara Pfosi can confirm this: “The celebrations showed how much this success means to us.” She is very proud of the team. “We stuck to our game plan and lived our values in both games.” She sees the cup win “as a reward for the work we’ve done up to this point,” says Chiara Pfosi.
The semi-final against the ZSC Lions on Friday was already a clear-cut affair, which the Zug team won 7:1. Noemi Neubauerová, Lara Stalder and Annika Fazokas scored three goals in the space of 2:14 minutes in the middle third to bring the score from 1:1 to 4:1. Lara Stalder and Alina Marti scored again by the end of the second period. In the final period, the Zug team stepped up the pace with an eye on the final, with Rahel Enzler scoring the final goal. Ivana Wey scored the first goal of the encounter. The young international striker, who scored in her twelfth competitive game in a row, was named Zug’s best player. After the Cup victory the following day, she said: “It’s great that we’ve managed to defend the title. I’m very proud of every single one of us and the way we performed this weekend.”
The team had to cope with a shock. Noemi Ryhner collided with Nina Harju in the semi-final and left the ice in pain. One scene after the final illustrates the enormous team spirit: in the official winner’s photo, goalie Chiara Pfosi holds up Noemi Ryhner’s jersey. The message is clear: she also played her part in this success. Head coach Daniela Diaz had called for courage, solidarity and passion from the team in the dressing room speech before the final – and the players put this into practice both during and after the match.
They were also helped by the support of the many EVZ fans who had travelled to the game. Daniela Diaz thanked everyone who had travelled all the way to Lausanne. The fans will also be important if the team wants to achieve the next goal on its mission – the championship title. The regular season concludes next weekend. The Zug team will experience a déjà vu with the Cup final tournament: on Saturday, they host the ZSC Lions (puck drop at 2 p.m.) before playing HC Davos Ladies in the OYM hall on Sunday (2.30 p.m.).
