Olympic Women’s Tournament

Players called up from the EVZ Women’s Team

  • Switzerland: Annic Büchi, Rahel Enzler, Alina Marti, Lara Stalder, Ivana Wey
  • Czech Republic: Noemi Neubauerová

Friday, 6 February:

In the opening game, the five Zug players in the Swiss national team kit face their team-mate Noemi Neubauerová from the Czech Republic. The Swiss show morale, overturn a 3:1 deficit and save themselves for the penalty shoot-out. This was only decided with the 16th penalty – by EVZ player Ivana Wey. The young striker had already converted her first penalty attempt, just like Lara Stalder. The Nati won 4:3 on penalties and took two important points and a lot of morale with them in the battle for the best possible quarter-final place.

The Swiss women continue their campaign on Saturday with a game against Canada. Noemi Neubauerová, who played in the Czech Republic’s 5-1 loss to the USA on Thursday, will enjoy a day’s rest.
