The 0-8 defeat against EHC Biel-Bienne last Sunday afternoon was the final blow for Yorick Treille. The Frenchman took over as head coach of the Geneva team from Jan Cadieux on December 28, 2024, and less than a year later, it’s all over for him too. The Grenats have not yet announced a successor for the 45-year-old, but his former assistant Ville Peltonen, who also served as assistant at SCB from 2016 to 2018 and then spent two seasons as head coach of Lausanne HC, is a strong contender. The Finn has been head coach at IFK Helsinki for the last four seasons.
The Geneva team is currently in a respectable 7th place in the table, but in the twelve games played so far this season, it has already suffered three heavy defeats, the most bitter of which was probably the 0-11 total collapse in the derby against Lausanne. This was followed by a 1-5 home defeat against Lugano and a disastrous 0-8 loss in Biel. With 49 goals conceded, the Servettiens have conceded eight more goals than HC Ambrì-Piotta in second-last place.
On Friday evening, Genève-Servette HC will be at the OYM hall. Yorick Treille is no longer behind the Geneva bench, only his assistants remain.
Top scorers Tomáš Tatar and Grégory Hofmann could return to the EVZ line-up. The two forwards missed the CHL away game in Rauma, but were back on the ice for training on Thursday. After a perfect 6-point weekend last week, EVZ is naturally keen to bounce back from its narrow 0-1 defeat in Finland and get back to winning ways. A victory would extend its lead over the playoff line to six points.
Save the date: On Sunday, October 19, the EVZ Family Game against EHC Biel-Bienne will take place! Children will have the opportunity to win a meet & greet with their favorite player in a coloring contest.
