Women’s Team on the Road

The EVZ has two away games on the schedule this weekend: Saturday afternoon in Fribourg and Sunday at 2 p.m. in Bern.

The Zug women remain undefeated. After nine games, they are alone at the top of the table with 27 points. Their closest rivals from Ambrì are already seven points behind, having played one game more. As of Friday, their two opponents from the weekend are in fifth (Bern) and sixth (Fribourg) place. The reigning Swiss champions from Bern are away to the ZSC Lions on Saturday evening and could close the gap on the league leaders with a win.

Fribourg will be looking for revenge against EVZ at their home arena on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. The team from western Switzerland almost caused Zug to drop their first points on October 5 at the OYM hall: it was not until the 59th minute that Noemi Neubauerovà redeemed the fans with her 1-0 goal while shorthanded. It is EVZ’s only game so far that ended with less than a three-goal difference.

Head coach Daniela Diaz will be without forward Jael Manetsch this weekend and in the coming weeks. The 18-year-old injured her foot in last weekend’s game against Neuchâtel.
