On Tuesday, the SCB will play at the OYM hall

Three defeats in a row and a drop to eighth place in the NL table – the EVZ wants to turn things around in Tuesday’s home game against SCB and get back into the direct playoff spots.

However, the zero-point weekend is still reverberating in the EVZ team. Goalkeeper Leonardo Genoni had to miss Saturday’s away game in Lausanne (2:5 from Zug’s point of view) after suffering an injury in the Lugano game on Friday. EVZ put in a good performance for a long time against the play-off finalists from the previous season, but then had to let Lausanne go in the final third.

This should change again on Tuesday against the SCB. Although Genoni’s participation is still questionable, there are fond memories of Bern’s last appearance in the OYM hall. On 9 September, the EVZ defeated their rivals from the capital 3-0 thanks to goals from Wingerli, Kovar and Kubalik at the start of the season. Will this scenario be repeated on Tuesday? The Zug side certainly wouldn’t mind, but they know that things can turn out differently. After all, they also lost 3-0 away from home at the PostFinance Arena in October.

That game marked the debut of new SCB coach Heinz Ehlers. After an unsatisfactory start to the season, he took over from his predecessor Jussi Tappola. However, the Bern team has not yet achieved a major turnaround. They have lost their last two games against Kloten and Davos and are still stuck in an uncomfortable 13th place in the table.

EVZ have an eventful week ahead of them both on and off the ice. In addition to the two home games on Tuesday and Thursday (against Genève-Servette), Mike Künzle’s contract extension for two more years was announced on Monday. And the squad planning for the 2026/27 season will continue to take shape this week.
