At the end of the year against the HCD

In the last home game of the year, the EVZ has to face leaders HC Davos.

The main part of Zug’s pre-Christmas mammoth programme has been completed. The EVZ won a total of three times in four games within five days. On Saturday away in Rapperswil, Zug ran out of steam in the final period after a dream start and were beaten 2:4.

Now, however, Head Coach Michael Liniger’s men finally have two well-earned days of rest. But before they head into the Christmas break, they have one more highlight to look forward to. On Tuesday evening, the undisputed leaders HC Davos will visit the OYM hall.

Davos got off to an excellent start in September and have cemented their place at the top of the table. HCD, coached by the former Zug player Josh Holden, are in first place with 76 points from 34 games and have their sights set on their first title since 2015. Davos have picked up five points out of a possible six against EVZ so far this season. In September, Zug narrowly lost on penalties in the OYM hall, and just over two months later, they came up empty on the road in Graubünden (5-1 defeat).

This should change on Tuesday. And the EVZ has a perhaps decisive ace up its sleeve: home advantage. Zug have won all five of their previous home games against Bern, Genève-Servette, Rauma, Kloten and Biel after 60 minutes. Can they do the same against the leaders on Tuesday?

It would be a conciliatory end to an extremely eventful EVZ year 2025.
