Guest performance in Geneva

The EVZ is travelling to Calvinstadt to face the team of the moment.

Geneva’s winning streak was ended on Friday by the SCL Tigers, who lost 3-0 away from home. Head coach Ville Peltonen’s team had previously celebrated seven wins in a row with a total of 20 points. Geneva are now in third place in the table.

However, EVZ have won two out of three duels with Zug so far this season. A home defeat in mid-October was followed by a 1-0 away win and a 3-1 victory at home. However, the favourites in the final match of the regular season are clearly assigned.

The EVZ suffered another 4-2 defeat against Ajoie on Friday, and the series of defeats shows no sign of ending; a win is now needed in Geneva.

The 1st team will remain in Geneva after the game and will travel on from there to northern Sweden on Sunday. There they will face Luleå in the second leg of the CHL semi-final on Tuesday at 7.00 pm. The starting position from the first leg: a 2:3 deficit must be equalised or even made up within 60 minutes. The EVZ could then become only the third Swiss team to reach the Champions Hockey League final, which will take place in Sweden on 3 March – in which city is still open and depends on the outcome of the clash between Frölunda Göteborg and Brynäs, which is based in Gävle.
