The EHC Kloten is a welcome guest at the OYM hall for the EVZ: since Kloten’s promotion in spring 2022, Zug has won five of seven games, most recently three in a row. The most recent encounter was not long ago. On December 17, fans saw nine goals, with Zug winning 5-4. After conceding an early goal in the final period, EVZ trailed 2-4 before Elia Riva, Dominik Kubalík, and Nando Eggenberger turned the game around with their goals. It was Kloten’s 13th defeat in 16 away games this season. Later, they added another defeat at the SCL Tigers, meaning that Kloten currently occupy second-last place in the away table with 13 points. Only EHC Biel-Bienne have taken home fewer points (11).
On Saturday, EVZ welcomes EHC Kloten to the OYM hall (starting at 7:45 p.m.).
Nevertheless, the five-time Swiss champions can still hope for a place in the play-ins. Former national team striker Axel Simic is also contributing to this. At the end of the season, he will leave EHC Kloten for Lausanne, where he has signed a four-year contract. Michael Hügli will be taking the opposite route. The 30-year-old forward, who has a history with EVZ, has signed a two-year contract with Swiss Arena starting in 2026/27.
Zug lost 0-7 in Lausanne on the same day. They are aiming for direct playoff qualification, i.e., a place among the top six teams. The team is also strong in front of its own fans this season, winning 11 of its 17 games at the OYM hall, most recently with five consecutive victories.
MOMENT OF SILENCE BEFORE THE GAME
The EVZ is deeply shocked by the tragedy that struck Crans-Montana on the night of January 1, 2026. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and all those affected. As a sign of respect and silent remembrance, we will observe a minute of silence together before the game.
