Go one better in Fribourg

The EVZ Women’s Team kicked off the playoff semi-finals with a 7-0 fireworks display against Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies. Will they get confirmation in the form of an away win on Sunday?

The EVZ Women’s Team has not played a serious match for more than a month. And then there’s a playoff semi-final on the programme. But the Zug women, who only conceded six points in the regular season, also mastered this hurdle with ease.

In Game 1 of the semi-final series against Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies, the score was 2:0 after the first period, 4:0 after the second period and 7:0 at the end. Six different scorers (Jael Manetsch scored twice) are evidence of a confident team performance.

Alina Marti: “We struggled a bit at the start, but then we got into the rhythm. If we maintain our speed and physicality and improve our start, we’ll do well on Sunday.” Game 2 of this series is already scheduled for Sunday. Game 2 takes place away from home at the BCF Arena in Fribourg at 2.45 p.m. The game can be watched live on RED+.

GAME 3 ON TUESDAY

Regardless of the outcome of Sunday’s game, Game 3 of the semi-final series between the EVZ and Fribourg will take place next Tuesday, 10 March at 7.30 pm in the OYM hall. Depending on Sunday’s result, the women’s team can already bag a place in the final. Get your ticket now and be there when the next chapter of success in Zug women’s ice hockey is written!
