Ueli Huber is the second eldest of the three Huber brothers, who played a key role in the development of the EVZ. Engelbert Huber (1946-2017) is honorary president, worked for the EVZ in various functions for 39 years and was president of the Kristall-Club patrons’ association for six years. He led the EVZ as President in 1977/78, 2001 (interim) and 2003-2006. Oskar Huber (74) played for the first team from 1967-1979 and witnessed the promotion from the second to the top league as a player and captain. As part of the Jenni-Probst-Huber forward line, the passionate sailor can still be seen as a living legend at home matches today.
Ueli Huber was already there in the Baar days and, like his brothers, at the EVZ founding meeting in 1967. He was a forward from 1967 to 1974, captain from 1968 to 1973 and one of the first crowd favorites with his unmistakable style. He scored 48 goals in 88 games in an EVZ kit. After being promoted to National League B in 1974, he announced his retirement and became involved with the junior and senior teams. From then on, however, he focused on his parents’ garage business.
Ueli Huber died on November 28 as a result of a lung disease. The EVZ will honor his memory and sends its heartfelt condolences to his partner Mariella and his family!
The forward from the early days of the EVZ passed away at the end of November at the age of 77.
