EVZ signs Peter Cehlárik until 2024

The Slovakian signs a contract with the Swiss champions for the next two years.

With Peter Cehlárik, the foreigner sextet of the EVZ is complete. The 26-year-old Slovakian has signed a contract for two seasons in central Switzerland. Last year, the 2022 Olympic bronze medallist played in the KHL with Avangard Omsk (52 games, 14 goals, 23 assists), where he was the top scorer in the playoffs with 12 points from 13 games.

“With Peter we have found the perfect player for our last foreigner position,” says General Manager Reto Kläy about the Slovak. “He has an excellent game overview and a very good shot.” The 188cm tall and 91kg left-shooter started his career in his hometown with MsHK Zilina before moving to the Swedish Arctic Circle to join Luleå HF in the junior division in 2011 at the age of 16. Just one year later, Cehlárik made his debut in Sweden’s top division, where he collected 27 goals and 30 assists in 159 games until 2016 and became Champions Hockey League winner with Luleå in 2015.

In 2013, the Boston Bruins drafted the winger 90th overall in the 3rd round of the NHL Draft and used him in the NHL and with AHL farm team Providence Bruins from 2016-2020. In total, Cehlárik brings experience from 208 SHL, 194 AHL, 40 NHL and 52 KHL games and appeared 64 times for the Slovak national team.

Welcome to Zug, Peter!
