HC Davos vs EVZ

On Saturday evening (November 2, 7.45 p.m.), the last game before the national team break will be played in Davos.

After the 2:6 defeat on September 28 in the BOSSARD Arena – on the evening of Reto Suri’s farewell and his honor as Retired Number – the EVZ is looking for revenge on Saturday. Although the result was a purely visual fit for the evening when the number 26 was pulled under the stadium roof, it was not at all in line with Head Coach Dan Tangnes’ concept. “We put in a huge effort and came away empty-handed. We don’t finish our actions cleanly and we make it far too easy for our opponents in defense. Everyone has to be self-critical enough,” the Norwegian was quoted as saying at the time. And Lino Martschini, referring to the final period, in which HCD went from 2:1 to 5:1 in less than four minutes, added: “That must never happen again. The way we played in the final period is simply not on.”

The defeat against Davos at the end of September was followed by two more losses against Kloten and Lausanne. After a brief rebellion against SC Bern (4:2 win), Zug again came away empty-handed against Biel and Rapperswil. Since then, the EVZ seems to have found its stride: 32 goals and 17 points from seven games. Seven of these goals were scored by Daniel Voženílek – on Tuesday in Ambrì, the Czech scored a goal for the tenth game in a row, setting a new EVZ record. So the big question on Saturday night should also be: Will he score again? For the National League record, he has to score at least once in each of the next four games.

EVZ could overtake HCD in the table and climb to 3rd place with their fifth win in a row in Davos. But head coach Josh Holden’s squad is also in form: The Grisons have won five of their last seven games, most recently three in a row.
