The 19-year-old goaltender will be loaned to EHC Chur by EVZ with a B-license. Simmchen is expected to strengthen the Swiss League team until the return of Elijah Neuenschwander, who is participating in the World Championships with the U20 national team.
“EHC Chur offers Santo the opportunity to gain valuable playing experience in professional ice hockey,” says General Manager Reto Kläy. Simmchen is part of the 1st team squad in the current season and made his first appearances in the National League during Leonardo Genoni’s injury. The 196 cm tall and 91 kg goalie played eleven games with the U20-Elit and has already celebrated two shutouts.
Santo Simmchen joins EHC Chur this Friday and will already be part of the squad against HC Sierre on Saturday, December 14.
