2:3 – that’s how all previous encounters between EVZ and HC Ambrì-Piotta in the 2024/25 season ended. On 29 September, Zug lost at home after 60 minutes after leading 1:0 in the first period. Just over a month later, on 29 October, EVZ overturned a 0:2 deficit from the first period in Ticino and secured the extra point in overtime. And on 4 December, the game in the Leventina again ended in overtime in EVZ’s favour. The Ambrì team now leads the head-to-head with 5:4 points.
The Gotthard derby will take place on Friday evening (24 January, 7.45 pm) in the BOSSARD Arena.
The Leventines are currently 11th in the table, but only one point behind 10th place, which would entitle them to the play-in games, and three points behind 8th place. Ambrì earned three important points in the fight against the premature end of the season against bottom-of-the-table Ajoie on Wednesday evening: the Biancoblu trailed until the 42nd minute before André Heim scored his equaliser to make it 3:3. Just three minutes later, the Ticino side produced a final furioso – Philippe Maillet, Inti Pestoni and Dominik Kubalik (in double overtime) scored within 118 seconds. Diego Kostner’s goal in the 51st minute sealed the 7:3 victory for HCAP.
